Why Did My Instagram Connection Expire?
If your Instagram account was previously connected to Highviz.io but now appears disconnected, don’t worry - this is normal and expected.
Instagram automatically expires access every 60 days to keep your account secure. When this happens, you'll need to reconnect your account to continue syncing your post data and analytics.
📆 Why Does This Happen?
This is a requirement from Instagram's API, not Highviz.io.
To protect user privacy, Instagram issues what's called a “long-lived access token” that expires every 60 days by default.
Even if you’re actively using Highviz.io, the token will still expire - unless you manually re-authorize it.
🚨 How Will I Know My Connection Expired?
You may see:
A banner at the top of your dashboard
A message under Settings → Instagram Connection
Missing or outdated data in your dashboard (e.g. recent posts not showing)
🔁 How to Reconnect Your Account
Go to highviz.io and log in
Head to Account Settings → Your Media & Data
Click “Reconnect Account”
A pop-up window will appear - allow pop-ups if blocked
Log into Instagram (if not already)
Approve the requested permissions again
Once complete, your data will resume syncing automatically.
🛠 Troubleshooting Tips
