How to Connect or Reconnect Your Instagram Account

To get personalized insights on your Instagram content, you'll need to connect your Instagram Business or Creator account to Highviz.io. This guide walks you through both the first-time connection and how to reconnect if your access token expires.

✅ What You’ll Need

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • An Instagram Business or Creator account

  • You're logged into the correct Instagram profile in your browser

💡 Not a Business account yet?
Go to Instagram → Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account

🆕 How to Connect Your Instagram for the First Time

  1. Log in to Highviz.io

  2. Click “Connect Instagram”

    • You’ll see this prompt after signing up for the first time or under Settings → Account Settings → Your Media & Data

  3. Authorize Access

    • A pop-up will appear - allow pop-ups in your browser if blocked

    • Log in to Instagram (if not already)

    • Accept the requested permissions:

      • instagram_business_basic

      • instagram_business_manage_insights

    • Click Continue to confirm

  4. You’re Connected!

    • You’ll be returned to Highviz where your profile and insights will begin syncing

    • Initial data analysis takes 2–5 minutes, depending on your post history

🔁 How to Reconnect After Token Expiration

Instagram access tokens expire every 60 days (this is an Instagram rule, not Highviz-specific). We’ll notify you before it expires - but here’s how to reconnect anytime:

  1. Go to Settings → Account Settings → Your Media & Data

  2. Click “Reconnect Account”

  3. Follow the same authorization flow as above

  4. Your data will resume syncing automatically

Wrong Instagram account

Reconnect to the new Instagram account through Settings → Account Settings → Your Media & Data

Missing Facebook page

Ensure your IG account is linked to a Facebook Page

Permissions not granted

Restart the flow and accept all requested permissions
